Conductor Derating

Evaluation of Conductor Rating in Non-Sinusoidal Environments. This methodology was developed from a paper written by David Rice of GE. The paper title is, "Adjustable-Speed Drives and Power Rectifier Harmonics - Their Effect on Power System Components." IEEE paper # PCIC-84-52.

Directions

Select the appropriate cable size and type, enter the fundamental current of the measurement, and enter the system frequency. In the Spectrum Data box, enter the values in percent for each of the listed harmonics. Select the 'Calculate' button and the conductor derating value and derated conductor ampacity will be calculated.
